SQUID News is our News solution. It helps to reduce costs and increase operative efficiency.

DV25 is the digital format used by the system, because it is the one adopted by the market for capturing and editing. Generated files are then exported to the broadcasting servers. Different configurations consider solutions that include modules of capture in loop (continuous recording), control positions for the News Director, interaction with editors, preparation of the newscast, management of graphics, etc.

Regarding the hardware, the system includes solutions such as shared or distributed storage and as many work positions as needed, interconnected by means of a Gigabit net.To complete this solution, our Company included M.A.M. (Media Asset Management) functions and files registry in the modules.

The M.A.M. solution may connect different locations for regional newscasts and it allows the files classification, searching and transportation among them.


Loop Recorder

The LoopRecorder is a tool used to capture audio or video inputs in a continuous or preset way. Through the net, you can check the recorded material, select segments and export them to the non-linear edition centers or to playout systems AT THE SAME TIME the capture is taking place.

MediaManager shall be installed in non-linear edition centers or in the News Director’s machine.It manages M.A.M. functions of classification and searching (full test search) of online, proxy, near online and off lines servers (DVD or LTO backup), consulting databases and local or regional storages.

 . Media Manager
It imports segments from LoopRecorders or removable media (for example, Panasonic P2) to non-linear editors and enables finished clips to playout servers.During this process, the news is classified in different categories (For example, Sport News). They will have by default a graphic template with fields of edition of text for its description. In this way, tasks (and errors) in the art generation and in the caption description of the clips are minimized.

MediaConnector

The MediaConnector is a plug-in that exports directly from ADOBE Premier non-linear editors’ time line to playout servers (Engine).

Engine is the audio and video server of SQUID systems. It is in the market in mono or multi-channel configuration, with different levels of redundancy in order to assure that the operation will be reliable.
