MediaManager Module:
This is the module that ingests the material to the system and manages it.
Users’ control: It controls the access to different modules, creation/visualization of categories and creation/deletion of clips in accordance with the authorizations granted by the system manager.
Customized Interface: As the ones of other modules, this allows each operator to select the clips that they usually used and associate them to their users’ profile.
Deck players control by RS-422 or IEEE1394: It facilitates the tasks of capturing, allowing to control the deck players from the graphic interface.
Adjustment of audio and video levels: It enables the visualization and adjustment of audio and video, up to its normalization prior to capture.
Selection of input device: It enables the identification and selection of the capturing input device. This avoids the continuous connection and disconnection of devices to the system.
LoopRecorders Browsing: It enables the checking of LoopRecorders through the net by selecting the segments (news, programs blocks, etc.) which then will be exported to the edition centers or to broadcasting servers.
Export of files: It allows the export of files in the following formats: WMV, DV25, MPEG2 IBP, MPEG2 I Frame, Quick Time or Uncompressed to be used inside or outside SQUID workflow.
Import of files: It allows the import of files in the following formats: WMV, DV25, MPEG2 IBP, MPEG2 I Frame, Quick Time or Uncompressed to be added to the system.
Export presets: It enables the association of a specific profile (format and path of destination) with a function key for ordinary exporting tasks. For example, F1 can be associated with the export of news from satellite capturers to a non-linear editor in DV25 format.
Background Export Process: Background codification and export of clips are performed in a type-batch process. This allows the operator to continue with the capture and selection of clips processes with no need of waiting for codification.
M.A.M. functions: During the ingestion process, the system will classify the files according to different criteria (category, date, etc.) and a description field. In a similar way, the database may receive inquires in order to search for news or segments according to the mentioned criteria. This search may be performed locally or remotely if it is part of a Station network.
File functions: Online, nearline and offline storage shall be defined in the system. Repositories, and storage and recovery of historical clips shall be managed according to their capacity and storage criteria. Offline storage may be DVD, Bluray and LTO type.
Graphic Management: It allows the generation of templates and management of guidelines for captions during the broadcasting.
